Choosing New Cushions For Your Home

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Wow I really didn’t realise until I started looking what a huge choice of cushions there are to choose from.

Like many other mums out there, once your children are older you can think about buying nice if not a little more expensive items for your home as you know they are at an age where they understand more how much everything costs and therefore how to respect those expensive things.

For years we kept the same sofas that had seriously had their share of spillages and abuse with children climbing all over them but now it was about time they went to a new home and I went out and chose some lovely and long overdue new ones!

So with new sofas sitting nicely in the newly decorated lounge, all that was left was to find some beautiful new cushions to match.  I did keep my existing cushions from my old sofa so if I could find some nice new cushion covers or even the odd one or two cushion cover to match the colour scheme it saves me buying a complete new set of cushions.

I also came up with a plan too that if I didn’t buy the most expensive cushion covers on the market I could get away with changing them more often without my husband moaning!

Towels & Rugs

Have your towels lost that lovely soft fluffy feel and starting to look a little bare in places?  If so, then I think it’s about time that you changed them for some lovely new ones!

There are so many different types of towels on the market it’s knowing where to start.  Personally I love the Eqyptian cotton towels as they are always super soft and absorbent and are made from some of the finest and strongest cottons in the world.

Towels are also measured in grams/meter (or gsm) and the heavier the weight, the cosier and heavier the towel will feel.  For example, a 600gsm towel offers a luxurious feel, is super absorbent while giving you that lovely hotel look and feel.  Also the bigger the bath towel the better too that’s why I always buy a bath sheet so there is plenty to wrap round my body when I step out of the bath or shower.

Another household accessory I find I like to replace after a certain period of time is my rugs as I find they can look quite worn and flat after a while.  I have one in my conservatory but because the roof is glass and the garden is south facing the colour does eventually fade.

Oh well I’m not complaining as I love buying new accessories for the home!
